A lift down through the cliff to rock terraces and ladders into deep water.
Villa Dubrovnik is built into the cliff at Ploče, fifteen minutes on foot from the eastern gate of the Old Town, and a lift and a flight of stairs drop from the hotel to its own beach at the waterline. There is no sand. The terraces are rock and stone, and you go in by steps and ladders, straight into water that is deep at once and very clear. A line of buoys runs out from the beach and along the shore, holding boats off the water directly in front of it. East, the coast runs about four hundred metres to Sveti Jakov, a fine-pebble cove you can land on before turning back. West is the longer line, roughly 1.4 km toward the Old Town walls, and beyond the buoys it is shared water: taxi boats and the Lokrum ferry work that stretch, so stay close to the rock. Lokrum lies across the channel in full view, and stays a view. The hotel reopened in 2025 after two years of rebuilding, and runs from late March to early November.
