Three beaches and a boardwalk on a pine-covered peninsula, half an hour from the Acropolis.
A 1960s landmark on the Laimos peninsula at Vouliagmeni, reopened in 2019. Three private sandy beaches sit along a 300-metre seafront boardwalk, with quiet coves between them and the water reachable from almost anywhere on the estate. The bay is sheltered and the Aegean here is clear enough to see the bottom well out. Astir Beach next door has long been reckoned the best swimming spot in Athens. The beaches run from April to October, though Athenians swim this coast the year round, and the Acropolis is half an hour away.
