Walk off the deck, across the sand, and into the water.
Nantucket's north shore faces the Sound rather than the open Atlantic, which makes it the sheltered side of the island and the one worth swimming on. Cliffside sits directly on a private stretch of that beach, a rarity here, with the beachfront rooms opening onto decks that give straight onto the sand. The club has been on this beach since 1949, and its blue, yellow and green umbrellas are a familiar sight from the ferry. Town is about a mile along the shore.
