A minute from Aquatic Park, the sheltered cove where San Francisco swims.

The hotel occupies the 1907 Haslett Warehouse on Fisherman's Wharf, a minute on foot from the beach at Aquatic Park. The cove is protected water and swimmers use it all year, many of them without wetsuits. Nobody comes here for the visibility. It is cold and dark, and it is some of the most swum water in the United States. Two of the oldest open water clubs in the western states sit on the same beach, the Dolphin Club and the South End Rowing Club, founded in 1873. Each opens to non-members on alternating days for a fee, but a guest needs neither: you can walk down to the beach and swim from there. Tides and currents in the bay are serious, and anyone who does not know the water should stay inside the cove.
